A MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTERS
God speaks to men through the earthly things men value highly. Of these, time, talents and possessions are undoubtedly foremost. Hence, this call to Stewardship.
The affluence of these days gives added point to Stewardship: so does the increasing amount of leisure so many people have. Does God receive the proportion He should from this increase in the availability of talents, time and money?
A very revealing exercise, which if you will be so kind, we invite you to engage in, is to write down how many of the 168 hours of last week you spent on work, sleep, eating, home, worship, hobbies, societies, meetings, reading, other people, television (or radio) , prayer, going out, public affairs, deeds of love. The truth will probably amaze you. So, having done this try to plan your week ahead to your highest satisfaction.
It is important in all our Stewardship think— ing that we real ise that we must act responsibly and worthily and that the Church must act as a responsible steward of the gift of its members . .1 It is worth pondering what it means in our own Church and how it affects our own individual res— ponse to know that there are Churches which pledge to give as much as a fifth of their income to overseas missions and a fifth to such charities as Relief Funds, Refugee Service or Inter—Church Aid.
